This week’s update from Centro Médico Vida Plena may be our most exciting one yet. For months we’ve been transforming an old school in Escuintla into a modern, clean, and affordable medical center that will serve families suffering under extreme generational poverty — and this week, the vision finally feels REAL.
Here’s what you’ll see in Episode 12:
✨ Ceilings Installed Throughout
Walking through the hallways and rooms now feels completely different. The new ceilings give the entire building a finished, professional feel — and we couldn’t be more thrilled.
💡 LED Lights Turned On for the First Time
What a moment! Bright LED lighting now fills the exam rooms, pharmacy, lab, and office areas. Seeing the lights come on made everything feel alive.
🪟 New Windows Everywhere
Fresh windows are now installed in the reception room, office, pharmacy, bathroom, and laboratory. These bring in natural light and help maintain a clean, secure environment. The pharmacy windows and laboratory window is even designed as walk-up windows for patients coming directly from the street.
❄️ Air Conditioning Installed in All Exam Rooms
Each exam room is now equipped with its own A/C unit — essential for comfort in Escuintla’s heat and humidity.
🏥 Pharmacy Multi-Purpose Care Room
This space will allow the pharmacist to give injections, administer IVs, and even provide a cool, safe place for sick schoolchildren to rest while waiting for their parents.
🧪 Laboratory Window for Sample Drop-Off & Results Pickup
Patients will be able to drop off labs or receive results without needing to move through multiple rooms — helping the clinic run more efficiently.
🎥 Full Security System Being Installed
We take the safety of our staff, patients, and equipment seriously. Eight cameras are being installed throughout the property, giving us full coverage inside and out.
We’re So Close to the Finish Line
Only $45,000 remains to fully fund the build-out, purchase equipment, and prepare for opening day.
