By Nurse Rocio
In our ministry, we often say that God sends us exactly where we’re needed, sometimes long before we know why. A few weeks ago, He led us to one man’s doorstep through a nurse with a heart to serve—and what we found reminded us why this work matters so deeply.
Nurse Evelyn, a faithful volunteer with God Said Go Missions, reached out to us about a man in urgent need. He was a security guard, spending long hours standing outside local businesses. Unknown to him, he had type 2 diabetes—a silent condition that had already begun to take a painful toll on his body.
Due to diabetic neuropathy, he could no longer feel sensations in his feet. Over time, small stones lodged inside his shoes had caused deep ulcers on his big toe, unnoticed and untreated.
When our team arrived at his home, the situation was worse than we imagined.
The smell of infection was overwhelming—we had to wear masks soaked in alcohol just to continue working. Yet beyond the physical discomfort, we were burdened by what had been overlooked for far too long. We carefully washed his foot, removed the rotting nail, drained the pus, and cleaned away infected tissue. Before we left, we educated his family on how to continue treatment and left them with supplies to help him heal.

But a few days later, we were called back.
The infection had spread to all five toes, and we discovered a fungal infection had developed from poor hygiene and moisture buildup. His family had tried to help, but they hadn’t understood the gravity of the care he needed.
So we returned. This time, we applied two different treatments: one for the big toe and another for the remaining four. We provided oral antibiotics and antifungals, and continued to check in regularly.
We thank God that the fungal infection is now completely gone—a big victory worth celebrating! However, the original infection in his big toe continues to require ongoing care. We haven’t given up. And neither has God.
Perhaps the most heartbreaking part of this story is what happened before we arrived. This man had spent three days hospitalized in Antigua Guatemala—and yet, his foot was never treated. He was discharged without a plan, without wound care, and without the medications he needed.
That’s why they reached out to us.

At God Said Go Missions, we’re not a hospital. We’re a small, committed team of believers who say “yes” when God tells us to go. We show up with medical supplies in one hand and compassion in the other. We serve with limited resources, but with unlimited love—because no one should be forgotten, especially in moments of deep need.
Please pray with us for full healing for this man’s foot. We are trusting that the same God who led us to his door will also finish the work of restoration.
Your support makes stories like this possible.
Every donation and every prayer helps us continue to serve people who would otherwise go unseen.
Together, we are bringing hope and healing—one home, one patient, one step at a time.
