Sometimes the most meaningful changes don’t come from large, flashy projects—but from simple improvements that restore dignity, health, and hospitality.
Recently, our team had the opportunity to visit El Asintal, Guatemala, where we’ve been walking alongside Pastor Jonathan and his church community since 2020. We were there to host one of our regular medical clinics, but we also wanted to share an update on a building project that has been quietly transforming daily life at the church.
A Church That Has Been Faithful Through the Years
Pastor Jonathan’s church serves as a spiritual and practical hub for the community. Over the years, it has hosted worship services, children’s programs, and medical clinics—often with very limited infrastructure.
Several years ago, thanks to the generosity of Calvary Chapel in Ark City, Kansas, we were able to help replace and complete the roof on the church building. That improvement alone made a tremendous difference, protecting the congregation from the intense Guatemalan rains and allowing ministry to continue year-round.
But another need remained—one that many of us rarely think about.
Why Bathrooms Matter
For a long time, the church bathroom was a simple hut with a concrete toilet that emptied into a pit—essentially an outhouse. By village standards, it wasn’t unusual. In fact, it was considered fairly normal.
But when the church hosts services, children’s programs, and medical clinics for hundreds of people, access to safe and dignified restroom facilities matters deeply—especially for women, children, and the elderly.
That’s where another beautiful partnership came in.
A Gift from Across the World
Through the generosity of Salem Chapel in Bristol, England, Pastor Jonathan’s church was able to build new bathroom facilities—solid structures with proper toilets and handwashing areas.
While the plumbing system is still being finalized (many villages do not have consistent running water), the difference is already dramatic. These new bathrooms provide cleanliness, dignity, and a sense of care for everyone who walks through the church doors.
It may seem like a small thing—but in a rural Guatemalan village, it’s a major step forward.
Partnership That Builds More Than Buildings
What makes this story so powerful isn’t just the construction—it’s the partnership behind it.
A church in Kansas.
A church in England.
A pastor and congregation in Guatemala.
All connected by a shared heart to serve and love others well.
These projects remind us that mission work isn’t always about doing something big—it’s about doing what’s needed, faithfully and together.

Thank you to everyone who gives, prays, and partners with us. Your generosity continues to bring hope, dignity, and lasting impact to communities across Guatemala.
