Some months feel like a turning point. April was one of them.
Not because of one big dramatic moment — but because of a dozen smaller ones that, when you add them up, tell a story of momentum. New doors opening. Plans finally becoming reality. Teams doing hard things in unfamiliar places and coming back stronger for it.
Here’s what happened on the ground this month.
Jalapa: A Trip Months in the Making
For months, our team had been talking about getting to Jalapa. The planning, the logistics, the coordination with local pastors — it all takes time. But this month, it finally happened.
Rocio, Irene, and the whole team were part of making that trip a reality, and the experience exceeded expectations. Irene put it well: “It was exciting to see it all come together. Communication with the pastors was really good, which helped everything flow smoothly and made the partnership feel very encouraging.”
That kind of smooth, relational partnership with local church leaders is exactly what sustainable ministry looks like. We’re not parachuting in — we’re building trust and working with the people who are already invested in their communities.
New Bible Curriculum Reaches Three Churches — and a School
Rachel and Julio have been doing some of the most creative work I’ve seen in a while.
Last month they launched structured Bible curriculum materials into three village churches:
- Venecia — studying The Armor of God with Pastor Daniel
- Jabali — working through The 10 Commandments
- Canton Miramar — exploring Adventures in Genesis
That alone would be a great month. But they also got permission to bring a Bible class into the local school in Canton Miramar — and it went well enough that we’re hoping to make it a regular feature.
Think about what that means. We’re not just serving kids who show up to our programs. We’re walking into the school, meeting children on their own turf, and partnering with the community in a way that opens completely new doors. Rachel is already exploring whether this model could work in other villages.
The Simple Gift of Good Hospitality
Not every win looks like a medical clinic or a Bible lesson. Sometimes it looks like a guest room and a shared meal.
Becky opened her home last month to host two of our visiting team members, Joanna and Lea. She’ll be the first to tell you she’s not a professional host — but the visit worked beautifully because everyone pitched in. Meals were collaborative, clean-up was shared, and guests were self-sufficient at breakfast. No stress, no pressure.
It’s a small thing, maybe. But a team that serves together, eats together, and genuinely enjoys being with each other? That’s a culture worth protecting.
The Numbers Behind the Month
While the stories matter most, the numbers tell their own part of the story:
- 416+ patients served in our free village mobile medical clinics
- 150+ patients seen at Centro Médico Vida Plena in Escuintla
- 300+ children in weekly Kid’s Clubs across 9 village churches
Over 860 people — and that’s just one month.
What I’m Thinking About
As I look at April’s report, I’m struck by something: the work is deepening, not just expanding.
We’re not just adding more clinics or more churches. We’re building curriculum. We’re getting into schools. We’re strengthening pastoral relationships. We’re developing a team culture that makes people want to serve.
That’s the kind of growth that lasts.
Thank you for being part of it. Whether you give financially, pray consistently, or simply follow along and share what we’re doing — you are part of this story.

We couldn’t do this without you.
