Love in Action: Teen Quest & York Springs Bible Church Serve in Guatemala

This month, we had the incredible honor of helping the ministry of Rocsana’s Hope by welcoming a team of 21 energetic and faith-filled individuals from Teen Quest and York Springs Bible Church in Pennsylvania. Over the course of eight packed days, this group served alongside our local team in villages across Guatemala—bringing the Gospel, helping hands, and a whole lot of joy.

From the moment they arrived, it was clear this was going to be a special week. Half the team consisted of passionate teenagers—students with hearts on fire for Jesus and ready to serve wherever needed. The other half? Equally enthusiastic adults with a deep desire to model servant leadership and grow in their own faith as they poured into others.

While it was tough to post updates daily (our days were long, the roads were rough, and many of the villages had no signal at all), we wanted to share just a few highlights from this incredible outreach:

Building & Blessing in San José la Montaña

One of the key projects this team took on was digging the foundation for a new kitchen at Pastor Felix’s church in San José la Montaña. This kitchen will serve the church and the surrounding community in a big way—providing meals during events, kids’ programs, and future outreaches. It wasn’t easy work, but these students and leaders grabbed their shovels, dug deep (literally), and gave it their all in the hot sun.

At the same time, another group from the team brought the joy of Jesus to the children through skits, worship songs, dancing, games, and crafts. The smiles were endless, especially when the kids made colorful pinwheels and learned about the love of God in fun, creative ways.

It was a beautiful example of the body of Christ working together—some building with their hands, others building with their hearts.

In the Village of El Asintal

We spent three full days in this village, each one filled with ministry:

      • Day 1: The team jumped into action with church building improvements—cleaning up the grounds and applying stucco to the unfinished interior walls, helping transform the space into a more inviting place of worship and gathering.

      • Day 2: We hosted a medical clinic and a children’s program much like the one in San José la Montaña. The team helped with triage, care, prayer, and playing with the children while sharing God’s love in tangible ways.

      • Day 3: The team divided into four groups, each with a local church leader and an interpreter, and went door-to-door throughout the village, sharing the hope of Jesus and praying for families. Everyone was invited to a special church service where we showed a short film about Jesus and shared a clear invitation to follow Him. Every family in attendance received a “love basket”—a bundle of groceries that the team had assembled with care the night before.

A Sunday of Worship, Service, and Smiles

Even Sunday was full of purpose. The team began the day attending worship at Shoreline City – Antigua, followed by a heart-touching visit to a local orphanage, where they put on the kids’ program once more—this time for children without families of their own.

Later that day, the team went to Rocsana’s Hope, where they toured the ministry and spent time encouraging the girls living in the home. Relationships were strengthened, and hearts were touched once again.

    More Than a Mission Trip

What makes teams like this so special is not just the work they do—but the relationships they build. Whether helping with construction, praying over a family, or laughing with a child, every moment was infused with love and intentionality.

These young people and their leaders showed what it means to live on mission—to step out of their comfort zones, embrace the unknown, and love boldly in Jesus’ name.

Thank You, Teen Quest & York Springs Bible Church

To every team member who came: thank you. You brought laughter, labor, and love. You gave of yourselves completely—and you reminded us that God still calls people to go, to serve, and to bring His light to the most remote places.

We are so grateful for your partnership and friendship. Your impact will continue to ripple through the families, churches, and communities you served in Guatemala.
