How Mission Teams Multiply Impact in Guatemala

One person can plant a seed — but a team can change a community. 🌎

When you see a short-term mission team arrive in Guatemala—carrying suitcases full of medicines, supplies, and smiles—you’re seeing more than a group of volunteers. You’re witnessing the hands and feet of Jesus in motion.

At God Said Go Missions, our teams come from churches across the U.S., each bringing unique gifts and a shared purpose: to serve, encourage, and love people in Jesus’ name. These teams multiply impact far beyond what we could accomplish alone.

💛 Serving Together. Changing Lives.

Each year, teams join us to bring medical care, children’s activities, and construction help to villages where access to basic needs is limited. They don’t just “do projects”—they build relationships. Whether it’s setting up a medical clinic in El Brasil, helping pour a church foundation in San José Montaña, or leading a kids’ program in El Asintal, their presence reminds families that they are seen, loved, and not forgotten.

Recently, one volunteer, Mike Hayes, shared how his time in Guatemala transformed his perspective:

“It was an eye-opening experience and a heart-warming time. We went door to door sharing the gospel, helped finish a church, and set up a medical clinic. I came home with a greater appreciation for what I have and stronger confidence to share my testimony.”

Stories like Mike’s remind us that transformation flows both ways—the people we serve are blessed, but so are those who come to serve.

🙏 Encouraging Local Pastors

Each team not only serves the community but also strengthens local pastors and leaders who labor year-round in these remote villages. Through shared prayer, teaching, and fellowship, our visiting teams bring encouragement and new energy to those faithfully leading their flocks.

As Shawn Boykin, our Director of Community Development, often says:

“When a team shows up, the pastors know they’re not alone in the mission. It’s the body of Christ coming together across nations.”

🌱 Multiplying the Mission

The impact doesn’t end when the plane departs. Many team members go home inspired to continue supporting the mission—sponsoring children, funding clinics, or even leading their own teams the next year. Their stories ignite others to get involved, multiplying hope across borders.

Through these partnerships, God Said Go Missions is able to reach more villages, provide more medical care, and share the Gospel with more families than ever before.
