**Exciting progress! See how one church’s support is really making a difference.**
Since the COVID pandemic, we have shifted our focus from relief efforts across all of Guatemala to dedicating our time fully to 8-12 villages. Our work has expanded far beyond medical aid. We call it “Village Outreach,” which involves many different aspects to support the pastors in each village—helping with their personal and spiritual growth, community outreach, and addressing the needs of children and families in ways that go beyond medicine.
Each member of GSG Missions works faithfully every day, both in the field and from our home office, to bring the vision of “God Said Go Missions” to reality for the many villagers we serve regularly. Some of our team members, along with our supporting churches back home, are also doing much more than providing their monthly financial support to each individual missionary.
Julio and Rachel’s, our New Generation Directors, sending church in England supports a missionary project every year. They have a special giving collection on “Missionary Sunday,” which takes place each March.
Last year, they gave Julio and Rachel a substantial gift to help provide snacks for children in our children’s clubs in rural villages each week.
This year, they were asked by their church if there was a specific project they could support. Several urgent needs among the pastors we are working with were presented, and the church chose to help Pastor Jonathon’s church in El Asintal build a new bathroom. This is a huge blessing, especially if you’ve been on a mission trip with us and remember that many of the villages we work in do not have functioning bathrooms—or what we would typically call a bathroom. I have collected some pictures of the bathrooms used by pastors, their congregations and our team over the years and I will share in the next post- the conditions and smell can be quite challenging to get used to.
Thank you, Salem Chapel in Bristol, England, for supporting Pastor Jonathan and enabling our ministry to do more than our usual budget allows. Also, thank you, Julio and Rachel, for sharing the needs!
