Across Bridges and Blessings: A Photo Journey Through Village Ministry in El Brasil

Come with me today as we go to El Brasil, Guatemala to minister in one of the small rural villages.

We get started about 6:30 am, see Volcano Fuego as it spits out some of its smoke and ash.

Vendors take advantage of congested traffic to sell their wares. Banana chifles, anyone?

We arrive at the village about 8:45am, crossing the river.

With a swinging foot bridge to cross!

Help us unload the truck and carry the supplies to the clinic location up the hill.

After setting up our work site a quick trip to the bathroom is in order.

The precious people begin to gather for their consultations.

The next 3-4 hours are spent evaluating those who come to be seen.

We are able to provide medications to help with their physical maladies thanks to the financial support of our ministry.

Join us in praying with people as situations allow to meet spiritual needs.

You can work with Rachel as she leads the children in games, songs and activities.

She has developed teaching materials for the pastoral staff to hold kids clubs during the week.

Shawn meets with pastors to pray with them, disciple and mentor them.

Once all the people have been seen, climb the hill with us to Pastor Jeremiah’s house for lunch.

The women have prepared a delicious bowl of typical soup

and ample hot tortillas for our enjoyment.

Back down the steep hill we go…watch your step!

Be careful as we cross the swinging bridge to the waiting vehicles to take us home.

Traffic today includes a herd of cows.

We pass a rock formation along the way which looks like a lady’s face watching over Guatemala.

There is a lot of traffic going home so it can be slow progress and patience is required!

Whew, we finally made it home, about 4:30 pm, after 10 hours on the road! We are tired, but blessed to have been able to minister to many people and meet some of their needs.
