Meet Dr. Erik & Emily Hernandez

Leading Centro Médico Vida Plena into a New Season of Hope and Healing

There are moments in ministry when you can clearly see God’s hand at work—when the right people step in at just the right time.

This is one of those moments.

We are incredibly honored and grateful to introduce Dr. Erik and Emily Hernandez as the new Doctor and Directors of Centro Médico Vida Plena in Escuintla.

A Perfect Fit at the Perfect Time

When the doctor position at Vida Plena reopened, we began praying for the right individuals to step into this critical role. Not just someone qualified—but someone called. Someone who would care deeply for people, carry the heart of the ministry, and serve with both excellence and compassion.

Dr. Erik and Emily were already close to our hearts.

We’ve known them for years. We’ve seen their character, their faith, and their commitment to serving others. So when this opportunity came, it quickly became clear—they weren’t just a good option…

They were the right choice.

A Calling to Serve—Together

Dr. Erik, a Guatemalan physician, brings a deep understanding of both the medical needs and cultural realities of the communities we serve. He treats a wide range of physical conditions, but what sets him apart is how he cares for the whole person. He takes time with each patient—not just to diagnose and treat—but to listen, to pray, and to remind them that they are seen, valued, and loved.

Emily has been serving as a full-time missionary in Guatemala for the past four years. Her passion for women’s health—especially prenatal care and pregnancy ultrasounds—has already impacted countless lives. But her heart goes far beyond medical care. She desires for every woman she meets to truly know God in a personal way.

Together, they form a powerful team.

They don’t just bring skill and experience—they bring a shared calling.

A calling to serve people holistically—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Leading Vida Plena Forward

Centro Médico Vida Plena was built on a vision: to provide high-quality, affordable healthcare in Escuintla while helping fund free medical clinics in the surrounding villages.

Now, with Dr. Erik and Emily stepping into leadership, that vision is becoming even more tangible.

They are committed to:

  • Delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
  • Creating a welcoming and dignified environment for every person who walks through the doors
  • Expanding services that meet real, pressing needs in the community
  • Continuing to integrate faith into care—offering prayer, encouragement, and hope alongside treatment

This is more than a clinic.

It’s a place where healing happens on every level.

A Personal Note

For us, this is especially meaningful.

To have people we know, trust, and deeply respect step into this role—it’s not just exciting… it’s a privilege.

Dr. Erik and Emily are not just joining the team.

They are becoming a central part of what God is building through Vida Plena.

Looking Ahead

As we prepare to fully launch Centro Médico Vida Plena, we do so with renewed confidence and expectation. The foundation has been laid. The doors are opening. And now, the right leaders are in place.

We truly believe the best is yet to come.

Join Us in Welcoming Them

We invite you to join us in praying for Dr. Erik and Emily as they step into this new season:

  • For wisdom and strength as they lead
  • For continued provision for the medical center
  • For lives to be transformed through the care they provide

And if you’ve been part of this journey—thank you.

Your support has helped make moments like this possible.

Together, we are building something that will impact generations.

Answering His Call. Transforming Lives.
