Why This Matters

In the villages we serve, families often live on just $2–$3 per day. Parents must provide all school supplies — including notebooks, pencils, crayons, glue, and a backpack. If a child shows up without these required items, they are sent home and not allowed to attend school.

This heartbreaking reality means many children simply never start the school year.

For the past five years, God Said Go Missions has made it our Giving Tuesday focus to ensure that doesn’t happen. Through your generosity, we’ve been able to place thousands of backpacks in children’s hands — giving them dignity, confidence, and the opportunity to learn.

This year, our goal is our biggest yet:

What Your Gift Provides

Every $35 school supply bag includes:

• A sturdy backpack
• A full year of notebooks
• Pencils, pens, crayons, erasers
• Ruler, safety scissors, and glue
• Age-appropriate school materials
• A Gospel tract
• A children’s Bible
• A personal note of encouragement

These backpacks are purchased in Guatemala, assembled by our staff and volunteers, and delivered directly to children who would otherwise go without.

Meet Genesis 

Last year, Genesis — age 9 — received her very first backpack through this campaign. Her mother told us that every January, Genesis cried because she couldn’t attend school with the other children. When she received her backpack, Bible, and supplies, she hugged it tightly and said, “Now I get to go too.”

Suggested Giving Amounts

To make giving simple, consider one of these impact levels:

• $35 — Equip 1 child
• $70 — Equip 2 children
• $175 — Equip 5 children
• $350 — Equip a classroom of 10 children
• $700 — Equip 20 children
• $1,750 — Equip 50 children (a full village!)

How Backpacks Help Break the Cycle of Poverty

Education is one of the strongest tools God uses to break cycles of generational poverty.
When a child has the supplies they need:

• They stay in school
• They grow in confidence
• They learn to read and write
• They build friendships and community
• They begin to dream about their future

A simple backpack becomes a doorway to hope.

How We Distribute the Backpacks

Our dedicated team — including nurses, pastors, and local volunteers — travels to remote villages during January to deliver these backpacks.

Your donation directly places school supplies, a Bible, and the Gospel message into a child’s hands before the first day of school.

Distribution includes:

• Meeting with families
• Sharing the love of Jesus
• Giving each child their backpack
• Praying for the students and their parents
• Encouraging them for the new school year
