110 Smiles and Counting: School Supplies Delivered to El Asintal

This past week, 110 children in the El Asintal area received a very special gift: the school supplies they need to start the 2025 school year—and it’s all thanks to you.

In Guatemala, school doesn’t begin in August or September like in many places. Instead, classes begin sometime in mid to late February, depending on each community. But for many children in the villages we serve, education is not guaranteed. In fact, some of these children walk one and a half to two hours just to reach the nearest elementary school. Others have no schools nearby at all.

For many families, the cost of basic school supplies is enough to keep their children out of school completely.

That’s where you stepped in.

Because of your generosity during our 2024 Giving Tuesday School Supplies Drive, we were able to deliver school packs to 110 children in El Asintal this week. These simple supplies—pencils, notebooks, crayons, and glue—represent so much more than tools for the classroom. They represent hope, opportunity, and the possibility of a brighter future.

The smiles on their faces said it all. These kids are ready to learn, and because of you, they now have the chance.

Why This Matters

In the villages we serve, there are often only elementary schools, and resources are scarce. Many of these children come from families living in extreme generational poverty, where parents struggle daily just to provide food. Your donation didn’t just supply school items—you lifted a burden from parents and offered a pathway forward for children.

Every notebook you helped provide is a step toward literacy.
Every pencil is a chance to write a dream.
Every bottle of glue is a reminder that someone, somewhere, cares about their future.

From the entire God Said Go Missions team, and from every child who now gets to attend school this year, thank you.

Thank you for giving. Thank you for praying. Thank you for believing in the power of education to change lives.

Stay tuned as we continue delivering school supplies to more villages in the coming weeks. Together, we’re planting seeds of hope, one child at a time.
